Volunteers
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. If you can spare anywhere from four hours a week to one day a year, you can help us keep families close to their critically ill or injured children, at our Ronald McDonald Family Room, located within the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY.
Our volunteer opportunities include:
In-House Volunteers Can you offer four hours a week? We need volunteers to help with housecleaning, and general day-to-day tasks within our Family Room. Four-hour shifts are scheduled seven days a week, so we can accommodate many schedules. We especially need volunteers for the weekends and week nights.
Junior Board
High school sophomores, juniors and seniors who have strong leadership skills and are willing to commit to one school year of service can join our Junior Board. The main purpose and function of the board and its members is to increase awareness of the RMFR at their schools and communities, fundraise, and assist with in-house as well as out of house events. Junior board members have the benefit of gaining community service hours as well as adding their Board membership to their high school transcripts.
Special Event Volunteers You’ll represent our Family Room at community events, telling people about us, answering their questions, and distributing literature. Find out about our upcoming events.
Business Advisory Committee Members You and your fellow committee members will develop ideas and plans to help us forge strong relationships with the local business community.
Fundraising Committee Members You’ll help plan and organize our fundraising events.
Auxiliaries Our Family Room seeks to create auxiliaries within their own communities. Auxiliaries are independent groups who hold events and raise funds to benefit the Family Room. The auxiliary chooses, creates, and sponsors the events; Family Room staff works with auxiliary members to support their efforts and help ensure their success
